Coccinia flesh is crunchy with a mild bitter aftertaste, but matured ones taste even sweeter. When ripe, the translucent white flesh with embedded seeds turns red. They have thick, light green skin and are oval to elongated.

Aside from their delicious taste, Coccinia is high in nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. A 100 gram serving of ivy gourd contains 1.4mg of iron, 0/08 mg of vitamin B2 (riboflavin), 0.07 mg of vitamin B1 (thiamine), 1.6g of total dietary fiber, and 40 mg of calcium.

 Benefits of Coccinia 

This vegetable improves bowel movements because it contains laxative properties, which are caused by the presence of vitamin A and beta-carotene in the vegetable. It also cures gonorrhea because of this property.
